BoomCMS v5.6 released

Interface improvements and keyboard shortcuts in the asset manager

We're pleased to announce the released of BoomCMS v5.6.0

Restore pages

The major new feature for this release is the ability to restore pages to a previous version. The ability to browse the page history was introduced in v5.3. This has now been further improved to make it easy to undo changes should you spot a mistake on a page.

A page can be restored to any previous version by a single click from the page history:

Easier page status

We've improved the layout and language of the draft status section of the page settings. These changes give the draft status a more clearly defined structure with clearer explanations that are more relevant to the current status of the page. It looks nicer as well.

Work faster

This release considerably improves the usability of the asset manager and picker by introducing a number of keyboard shortcuts:

  • Use left and right arrow keys to move back / forward a page
  • Use ctrl / cmd + a to select all assets in the page, or to select none if all are selected
  • Toggle the visibility of the search criteria with ctrl / cmd + f
  • Delete selected assets with the delete or backspace keys

Other usability improvements include the addition of double clicking the page toolbar visibility icon to toggle the page visible / invisible. This makes the visibility icons consistent with the page status button which can be double clicked to publish changes. It's now even quicker to get your content online.
